Activities
At Islamia we have a coherent strategy for students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. By providing a wide range of extra curricular activities and opportunities for students to take additional responsibilities, we aim to improve leadership potential whilst maintaining a strong muslim identity and community spirit.
As girls move through the school, they all take part in various projects ranging from House plays and Cultural evenings to competing in the National Youth Parliament Competition and being part of the School Council. Students recognise that "Islamia helps us not only to have a good education but grow personally in our beliefs and self-confidence."
There are many annual events that different classes receive responsibility for each year, the purpose being to enhance organisation and teamwork skills and also to have an enjoyable time.
Charity Evening
This organised by the school council every year, in culmination of the annual Charity Project (featured on the School Council webpage)
Movie Night Sleepover
Once again, this year the School Council chose the jungle theme this year. They have hosted a movie-night sleepover, along with a scrumptious dinner and midnight feast, pillow-fight before going to bed, and the Saturday morning breakfast! Many students took part for this event. Like previous years, it proved to be a very successful and memorable night! Everyone enjoyed the night!
These fundraising events lead onto the final evening of awareness and entertainment, helping raise as much money as possible for the children including orphans.
Cultural Evening
The final event of the year, open to mothers and daughters always proves to be a sociable and captivating event with performances and shows directed by the students, followed by dinner. One of last year’s highlights was a talent show, showcasing Karate skills and other various arts. It proved to be a delightful summer evening and a good end to the year Alhamdullilah. This year we’re hoping for much the same and better from our current Year 9, and planning is already well under way.
Islamic Week
This year the Islamic week has taken place during the holy month of Dhul Hijja. It was very successful week where the girls took part in various activities and had benefited inshAllah of a good knowledge. Halaqahs were lead by teachers every morning and different workshop took place in coordination with the English and arts departments. We enjoyed excellent presentations on Hajj and had learned many stories of the prophets. Presentations were followed by the house competition Quiz that gave the girls an exiting time!
